"The Santa Party"

One day I got to take Sadie on a mommy/daughter date to a Christmas party at a local golf course. They had fun crafts, free popcorn, pictures with Santa, and enough candy canes to make thousands of sticky little hands. It was a blast.

She put foam stickers on this wreath...

...and when I asked her to hold it up and show me, this is what she did:

She wrote a letter to Santa...

put it in an envelope (I helped her write Santa...)

...and stuck it in the giant mailbox to go to the north pole.

Santa rode in on a sled pulled by Huskies...but he was already off of it when I got a picture.

Sadie was excited to sit on Santa's lap until it was actually her turn. She still went, and told him what she wanted, but she was a bit shy about the whole process.

A story I want to remember...before we went to the party I was asking Sadie what she wanted Santa to bring her. She told me "A cat!" To which I replied "Like...a toy cat?" "No...a cat that says 'Meow.'" Oh boy...we are definitely not a cat family. I got slightly nervous but quickly came up with "Oh, Santa doesn't bring pets. Just toys." So I dodged that bullet, and Sadie was more than happy to ask Santa for a toy cat. When we were leaving the party, she stopped suddenly and said "Wait! Where's my toy cat?" So I explained that Santa still had to go to his workshop and make it, and that he would bring it on Christmas Eve. She was pretty excited about that, too. Whew.
